Healthy Faith Versus Foolish Faith

Many dangers that we fear today are justified. To move forward with plans that include these dangers, when we don't have to and when we know they exist, is foolish. It's misguided faith that is not faith at all, but a type of tempting God. We know that Our Father will help us when we make mistakes. Being resistant and disobedient to warnings is very different.

Faith in God's deliverance doesn't mean we should take any kind of risk and expect him to save us or repair the situation. If I feel that God is leading me, confirming my plans and opening doors, despite my anxieties and the obvious dangers, then it would be ok to move forward with the challenging goal. That would mean that He has a plan for my plan.

From Religion/Tempting God at encyclopedia.com:

It is tempting God for anyone to expect miraculous protection while neglecting the immediate and obvious ways of protecting oneself that divine providence has already provided.

It also says that tempting God is when we don't heed and regard warnings and what we know in order to prevent and avoid misadventure.

We can choose to trust God about anything that we want to do. It is personal and relative. However, before moving forward with questionable goals that can be alarming, we should ask ourselves,

  • is this a wise choice or is this just foolishness rooted in a rebellious desire to have our way?
  • Is our determination rooted in the fear that we won't obtain, in any other way, what we want?
  • Is our plan and the determination to enforce it a sign that we don't trust God?

When we make an unwise choice that we could have avoided, we end up blaming God when he doesn't prevent the negative results of our foolish actions. Our relationship with Our Heavenly Father is then damaged because of our unhappiness as a result of our presumptuous decisions.

Sometimes, we also bring upon ourselves the fears that are related to what we know we should not do, without a direct impression from God. That's why we end up kicking ourselves and paying heavy prices. We end up berating ourselves with inner statements like,

  • You knew this could happen, so why did you do it?
  • Why didn't you listen to your instincts?
  • Why didn't you listen to the reborn spirit within?
  • Why didn't you sincerely check with God first?
  • Why didn't you listen diligently for God's prompting one way or another?

If a goal that you have could be questionable, presumptuous, foolish or just plain dangerous in any way, stop and consider the wisdom of it, any fears that may be clear warnings and if your trust level in God is high enough regarding the fulfillment your desire.

Overcome Evil With Good And Grow

Have you been feeling fearful or maligned lately? Been the target of malevolent or hateful treatment? What about persecution, harassment or oppression in it's various psychological and emotional ways? Do you wonder where your Father God is as you struggle to righteously endure the unceasing unfairness that he seems to be allowing?

Do not doubt that he is aware. Furthermore, he knows why you feel the way that you do. He knows the causes of your confusion and anger and he is not mad at you. When will he ever do something about what you are suffering? I don't know. Will he ever stop it? I don't know. Despite our uncertainties and intense anxieties, there is always a place where we can take refuge in a way that pleases God. We should always want to please and glorify him, no matter what.

I pray every morning before I speak to or encounter anyone in person or online. I also do talking prayer to God throughout the day. When these distressed feelings are particularly severe, however, I need something else to help me. Rather than attack others (in my mind or outwardly) who may seem to be the cause of my troubles, I like to quote Psalm 91. I have it written on three little sheets of paper that I've taped together.

I keep the little packet in the place where I am most of the day. I can find it either on my art work table or at my computer. When I feel particularly distressed, I pick it up and walk around my home reading it aloud.

I bring the words out of my spirit and put them into my atmosphere, where they will grow and bear good fruit, within and all around me. I listen to myself speaking the Living Word of God, that which will transform and convert. I always feel better and equipped for the next stage of battle when I do this.

Don't fight with others. Don't attack others in mind, spirit or physically. Don't repay evil for evil. Do good by speaking the Holy Scripture passage that will carry you to the next level of walking in God's light and growing in Christ.

Closer Than Ever To God

Sometimes, I have heavy burdens and feel alone just like you do. I'm learning and growing through these times. The Word is a lamp and a light and we just have to keep at it, keep praying and keep choosing to believe. Though not always easy, it's as simple as that. Putting His Holy Word daily into our minds gives us the stored-up strength that we need to beneficially endure these intense journeys.

God often gives us relief, at the last minute, from our severe struggles. When we feel we can't take anymore, we cry out and push forward against all odds, determined to believe that he cares. We refuse to be defeated by the world, the flesh and the devil. At those times, we remember that we have the power of God living within and we hang on by a thread of heartfelt determination. It is then that relief comes and our spiritual branches painfully grow a little more. (John 15:5-11)

After that, God mercifully gives us mental and emotional rest for a time. We can then catch our breaths, square our shoulders and see clearly that we are doing better, that we are closer than ever to God.

Trust II: Psalms 25:2, 5:11

I have decided to take the best path and depend on you, my Heavenly Father. I refuse to be embarrassed because I hope in you and believe your Holy Word. I will speak of you and share your precious Son's deliverance whenever you send someone to me who wants to learn.

(Psalm 25:2)

Those of us who have placed their reliance upon you, Father, should be overjoyed. We should always celebrate with joyfulness and gladness and raise our voices with delight because you, Father God, uphold and stand by us.

(Psalm 5:11)

The scriptures are paraphrased.

Christian Poetry: Look Up

Look up, even though your heart is broken.

Look up, even though you are oh so discouraged.

Look up, even though it seems impossible.

Look up, even though you can't take it anymore.

Look up, even though nothing has ever worked out for you.

Look up, even though you don't think that God loves you.

Look up, because you are God's by your own choice.

Look up, believe and confess that these issues will work out for your good, because the word, ordained by your loving, Heavenly Father, said they would.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

FAITH

Faith is one of the cornerstones of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV)

Faith Christian Scripture Artwork by Christian Words Shop

I chose four of my favorite scriptures on believing to design this printable artwork. Mark 9:23, Matthew 21:21-22 and Matthew 17:20. When I quote the scriptures, I am always amazed in my spirit at the possibilities that they open up to me.

These are scriptures that do not put a limit on what we can do. These scriptures tell us that there is a level of faith that we can acquire where we can do what we never thought we could do. Jesus even told his Disciples, and through them tells us, that we can even do more than he did. How amazing is that! Do you believe? Do you want to believe? FAITH is here for you today, right now! Choose it and keep choosing it, everyday.

TRUST

Trust is similar to faith. It's a choice that has to be made, often in the lack of any proof that we could understand.

Trust Christian Scripture Printable by Christian Words Shop

I have paraphrased this rich scripture, Psalm 52:8, in everyday language that is easier for us to grasp and apply to our daily lives.

There are eight powerful confirmations in this printable, scripture artwork, including:

I am purified by the blood of Jesus.

I am always flourishing, growing and strong.

My confidence in God never withers or dies.

How To Deal With Problems

See Any Problem As Something Good.

This goes for all challenges, setbacks, difficulties, trials, tragedies and tribulations. Even if nothing good seems to be coming from a problem, why go through the additional trauma of seeing it as something bad from which you will never recover?  Seeing it as something bad is the only other alternative to seeing it as something good. It's one or the other and we have the power to choose.

I realize that in some disastrous situations, some tragedies, some heartbreaking occurrences, it is next to impossible to stop and think that good will come from it. It would be difficult to do this but not impossible. If we are not able to do it in the midst of trial, we can take control and do it later. Do you realize how powerful the human brain is? Do you know that anything that exists began in the mind, then it was believed, then spoken or written, then it came into being?
At SuccessConsciousness, these important facts about the power of our God-given brains are shared:

Mind power is one of the strongest and most useful powers you possess.
This power, together with your imagination, can create success or failure, happiness or unhappiness, opportunities or obstacles. This depends on your mindset.

Your thoughts are the main ingredient of this power, and when you add to them focus and emotions, thoughts become powerful and can affect your reality.
The thoughts that pass through your mind are responsible for almost everything that happens in your life.

Not all thoughts are equal. Stray ones that you think once or twice cannot do much, but your predominant thoughts, the ones you repeat often, influence your behavior and attitude, affect your actions and reactions, and shape your reality.

Christians know that God has the upper-hand in all that happens in our lives. It is, however, a fact that God works with us. He does not control us. He helps us with our infirmities but he does not control us. That means that we have authority in our lives and also power through our brains. We can decide how to think. With determination and the divine help of The God of All Hope, we can learn to see problems as something good. Problems are not good but they can be used by a loving Father to generate good in our lives.

Those who know God always have hope. Our Heavenly Father promised to turn everything for our good, one way or another. We have to choose to believe. If we don't yet feel it, see it, taste it, hear it or touch this conversion of bad to good, we can insist that God has or will convert it to bless us. We can persist in professing this everyday, throughout the day. Why should we confess such a statement when it is so hard to believe in our circumstance? Because he said it. It's as simple as that.
We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, with those whom he has called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 GNT

Look up, even though your heart is broken.
Look up even though you are oh so discouraged.
Look up, even though it seems impossible.
Look up, even though you can't take it anymore.
Look up, even though nothing has ever worked out for you.
Look up, even though you don't think that God loves you.
Look up, because you are God's by your own choice.
Look up, believe and confess that this issue will work out for your good because your loving Heavenly Father said it would.

You struggling with a challenge and just don't see how you are going to make it?
See It As Something Good. Start there and the answers and help will come.

Christian Poem By Helen Mallicoat

A friend shared this poem with me to help me through difficult times in my life. It is so beautiful and touching that I read it often. It soothes my soul and spirit. It's as if God is telling me, Don't look backwards. Don't look forwards. Live in today. Be at peace. I am always here, today.

I AM

I was regretting the past
And fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking:

“My name is I Am.” He paused.
I waited. He continued,
When you live in the past
With its mistakes and regrets,
It is hard. I am not there,
My name is not I WAS”.

When you live in the future
With its problems and fears,
It is hard. I am not there.
My name is not I WILL BE.

When you live in this moment,
It is not hard. I am here.
My name is I AM.

May you be comforted by Helen's words that God is always present with you.

Helen Mallicoat was born to Dora and Walter White on Sept. 4, 1913 in a log cabin on a farm near Arenzville, Ill. She passed away at 91 years old on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Helen was an avid writer and many of her writings have been compiled into books. Hallmark published Listen for the Lord in 1980. The most widely read of all her writings is the poem I Am, which was published in 1982 on a poster by Argus Communications. Almost weekly she heard of it being meaningful to someone.

Being Proactive About God's Word

Life comes from the spirit. Healing starts in the spirit. Hope grows with a spirit that is fed every day.

We feed our reborn spirits by reading God's Word every day, meditating on it, remembering it and choosing to believe it. We grow the most when we are proactive about God's Word.
